Our days are punctuated by scouting new talent, attending market appointments, and scrolling Instagram in an effort to unearth the products, people, and news you actually need to know. Here’s what we Slacked one another about this week.
The Main Event: Cold Picnic’s New Bath Mat Collection
Bathrooms in New York City rentals can be…scary. In the past, I’ve strategically used bold and bright shower curtains to distract guests (and, let’s be honest, myself) from stained grout lines and leaky faucets. Next month, I’ll be moving back into a prewar building with a not-so-stellar washroom situation. Needless to say, I’ve already shopped Cold Picnic’s latest collection. The four new bath mats are full of the punchy color combos and abstract forms we know and love the brand for. All of them are hand-dyed in India and made from 100% organic cotton (a naturally absorbent fiber) and feature a nonslip backing, meaning I won’t find it roaming across my tiled floor. —Morgan Bulman, associate shopping editor

The Good Read: Embrace Your Space
Who says a well-designed home has to be fancy? Organization expert Katie Holdefehr’s new book, Embrace Your Space, celebrates creativity in every type of dwelling, from studio apartments to RV trailers, on any budget. Inside its pages, you’ll find tons of clever storage ideas, plus a space that might look familiar: the former Brooklyn loft of Domino style editor Julia Stevens and her two roommates.
The Soft Launch: A Study on Balance by Colin King x Beni Rugs
We all know interior stylist Colin King is a master of arranging objects, but it’s becoming more and more clear that his talent expands to designing them, too. (Just look at his recent Troy Lighting and Menu collaborations.) For King’s fourth collection with fair-trade Moroccan rug company Beni Rugs, he was inspired by the influence of Japanese aesthetics on French art, architecture, and design in the mid-1800s.
The Statement Piece: Sixpenny’s Camino Collection
Sixpenny isn’t shying away from the curvy sofa trend—it’s offering us a new take on rounded silhouettes with its just-dropped Camino collection. Dressed with oversize tubular cushions, the sectional sofa and lounge chair are embracing the of-the-moment look in a way we can get behind.
