One of the most refreshing remodel moments is the day your out-of-date bathroom joins you in the present. Opening up and brightening a bath, adding modern fixtures, and imparting your creativity through tiles and colors is one of the best parts of giving your home a makeover, and Shannon Wollack, founder and owner and Brittany Zwickl, partner and principal designer, of Studio Lifestyle know that feeling well. Here, they share with us four

bathroom makeovers

that bid dated design farewell, with flawless results.

Bathroom #1

The clients have extremely good taste and had decorated most of the house themselves, but all of the bathrooms desperately needed updating so they hired us to help. They had named each guest room and coordinating bathroom after a US city and we stuck to that theme. The bathrooms were the Master, NY, Miami, and LA. They definitely had a vision which made collaborating on the design of the bathrooms a lot of fun. They wanted each bathroom to be designed with American cities they love in mind, while staying true to the Spanish / Mediterranean architecture of the house. They were also expecting a newborn, so we designed a bathroom with her in mind, so things had to be kid-friendly (Miami).

When we posted the photo with the steel shower doors, it went viral on social media. People hadn’t seen that a lot and loved it – they were eager to know where to get them. PS they’re custom.

The overall aesthetic of each bathroom was a combination of classic and timeless, feeling lived in, looking current yet maintaining the Spanish inspiration, refined finishes, and artisanal vibes. The clients loved the playfulness and patterns of cement tile and other patterned tile so you can see this design aesthetic in three of the four bathrooms.

The biggest challenge throughout this was finishing just in time for a baby to arrive! And, our favorite memory of this design process was the creative collaboration with our clients and (quickly) anticipating the arrival of a baby!
